Royal Navy Cadelabra Wardroom Electric Lamp

We purchased this fine lamp back in 2001, together with the single stem version we have also listed today. It has been a part of our own collection and in daily use these last 14 years but a change of design scheme in our home now dictates, with some regret, it is time to find a new custodian for this as well. This pattern is in our view one of the most decorative and imposing of Royal Navy lamps and these are often seen mounted down the middle of the wardroom table and wired in series. We have a photograph here of an identical version of this lamp being used in the wardroom of the Royal Yacht Britannia but hers are silver plated whilst ours is finished in polished brass. The fluted Corinthian stem adds to the style and the column is surmounted by a Royal Navy fouled anchor on either side. The lamp features double cast arms with non switched BC holders fitted. The braided wiring was replaced when we purchased the lamp and meets modern safety requirements, whilst maintaining the vintage look. The lamp works perfectly, although as with all antique lighting it would be worth having this checked over by a qualified electrician before using. A fused 13 amp plug is fitted to comply with UK requirements but it may need to be rewired for overseas use. These lamps are not gimballed but to avoid them moving on a rolling ship the lamp is extremely heavy with pig iron mounted in the base and weighs in at 3.6 kilos so we recommend you check delivery costs with us before ordering. The base is covered in baize to avoid scratching the wardroom table. These lamps are getting increasingly hard to find now so grab a chance to own this fine example!
